When a guest relies on your hotel’s business center, there is nothing more frustrating than finding computers that don’t work, printers that are out of toner, or slow performance. This is why Reliability is such an important part of a world-class automated hotel business center.

Fundamentally, reliability for business centers means your systems stay up and running. If they do fail, they get fixed quickly. This starts with selecting hardware from top tier manufacturers, and software that is bug-free and well maintained. Make sure you are choosing hardware brands that have a strong track record for high reliability particularly in high use situations. We recommend all-in-one self-contained systems that generally perform well in those conditions. You should also choose a vendor that can handle software updates remotely and automatically. That way, your machines are always kept up to date with the latest business center and third party software.

Once you’ve deployed highly reliable hardware and software, you need to make sure you have a turnkey provider that will do everything required to keep your guest computers in peak working condition 24/7.  Reliable remote monitoring and management assures that when a problem arises, your provider will be notified so they can begin resolution, and have the visibility required to do so quickly. Onsite assistance is often required, so make sure that you identify and educate key hotel staff who can provide basic assistance to your vendor, such as making sure cables are connected, pressing the reboot button and adding paper or toner. If those tasks are the most you think your staff can handle, make sure to select a premium provider who provides advanced hardware replacement and dispatches onsite IT technicians within 1-2 business days to troubleshoot more complex problems or install replacement hardware.

R is for ReliabilityAs mentioned under our high Performance section, printers are another area where poor quality and reliability can lead to many guest complaints. There is nothing more frustrating than rushing to the airport and not being able to print your boarding pass! Highly reliable printers must be commercial grade and print quickly, in high quality, ALL the time. Just like your computers, this requires round the clock printer monitoring that automatically detects toner levels and remotely manages printer performance issues. If possible, find a vendor that provides a printer service that always provides you a spare set of toner, automatically replenishes that spare when the current toner is low, and informs you of new toner shipments so you are on the lookout for them.
